On 3 June afternoon, the “Intangible Inheritance from Song Dynasty and Millennium Ou Tradition” 2022 Dragon Boat Festival Celebration with Foreign Friends Living in Wenzhou, co-organized by Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture Broadcasting and Tourism, Foreign Affairs Office of Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government, Wenzhou Municipal People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries with the assistance from Wenzhou Municipal Immigration Services Center and higher education institutions, was successfully held in Wenzhou. Nearly 100 foreign friends from over 20 countries studying and working in the science and research institutes, enterprises and schools took part in this celebration event, which gave them an opportunity to closely experience the great charm of Dragon Boat Festival as well as a range of other colorful Chinese customs and intangible cultural heritages, and also gave them a chance to spend a traditional Chinese festival with profound cultural significance.

International lecturers and students from Wenzhou University were also invited to this event. Lecturers from International Education College combined the unique local culture with international cultural exchange and prepared special gifts made by international students from Wenzhou University for overseas friends.

During the event, overseas friends made the rice dumplings, played pitch-pot, made egg containers and wore Chinese traditional costume with great enthusiasm; together they enjoyed watching the local talk show, Peking Opera, Zhejiang musical instrument show, marionette show, glove puppet and other intangible heritage performances. With the assistance from intangible heritage successors, they experienced the tea ordering, shell carving, glass lithography, wood engraving and other intangible skills. They also tasted the wheat cake, fish balls, sticky-rice cake and other specialties with distinctive Wenzhou local characteristics. The overseas friends participating in this event were greatly amazed and thrilled by rich and colorful celebration activities.
